If you try a drugstore/Sally’s remover, not only will hair emerge SUPER fragile but it’s unlikely remove enough of the old color to give you options as far as a new shade goes.Īfter a remover, hair will be bozo orange…so do NOT panic. Sometimes it can take several to remove enough of the black so that when the color is redone, there are options OTHER than going very very dark again. The best one is Scruples Color Delete, which also protects hair but you might not need just a single application. That said, because black box color is so difficult to deal with, there are now some REAL professional color removers that are specifically for permanent black box dye. If you use a level that’s the same as your goal, then it’s gonna turn right back to black.
